A lot of new details have been released about the upcoming limited series events Eyes of Wakanda AND Marvel Zombies. Both shows are coming to Disney+ this year, and it looks like each will pack an extra punch for fans to enjoy.
Eyes of Wakanda will tell the stories of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history in a globe-trotting adventure set to expand the world Black Panther franchising. The focus will be on a group called the Hatut Zaraze, with each episode showing them as they prepare to recover Vibranium artifacts from Wakanda’s enemies.
The head of Marvel Television describes the group “like Wakanda’s CIA” and adds: “They often have to venture out to recover stolen Vibranium, but they also have to keep secrets well hidden so that Wakanda can repel invaders and remain safe. ‘Hatut Zaraze are challenged in many ways to remain loyal to Wakanda while discovering the rest of the world around them.”
According to the showrunner Todd Harrisanimation was the only place to tell such a far-reaching story.
“Animation is the ultimate equalizer of positions,” he explains. “Egypt costs as much as New York City, and the Moon costs as much as Ohio.
“Filming around the world has inherent limitations that we simply don’t have in animation. That freedom has allowed us to reimagine an idealized version of an era that is unaffected by human history.”
The voice cast has also been confirmed to include Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patrizia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaintand Disney Legend Anika Noni Rose.
The series Marvel Zombies it will serve as a sequel to that memorable one What if…? episode of the first season. Showrunner Bryan Andrews teases:
“Brad and Kevin [Feige] I liked What If…? episode so much. They said, “We need more zombies!” They said, “Let’s do a sequel to that episode, but let’s do four episodes, like a mini-event movie.”
“So we’re upping the ante. It’s TV-MA, so we don’t have to pull any punches,” Andrews continues. “We can be a little more hardcore. We’re aiming for the throat: no pun intended. It’s pretty wild, pretty out there.”
Marvel Zombies features the voices of MCU stars Awkwafina, Davide Porto, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique ThorneAND Iman Vellani. “An old favorite also shows up: Zombie Cap makes an appearance,” adds Andrews. “He has a nice fight with another main character, and I think the fans will love it.”
Eyes of Wakanda debuts August 6th with Marvel Zombies will follow on October 3. Can’t wait to see these new episodes?
