The first box office screenings of Captain America: Brave New World have arrived, with the film expected to debut domestically between $81 million and $107 million during its opening weekend.
These numbers mark a good start for the next MCU film, which will present Anthony MackieSam Wilson plays Captain America for the first time on the big screen.
According to Box Office Theory, the film’s projected domestic total could be between $195 million and $280 million by the end of its theatrical run. While these numbers are solid, they fall short of the record opening of $211 million Deadpool and Wolverine.
Due to conflicting test screening reports, fans are cautiously optimistic, although the recent trailer received a more positive response than other trailers released.
The challenge in this film is to convince audiences and fans that Sam Wilson can actually carry the role of Captain America and the legacy of Steve Rogers.
Mackie explained in a recent interview: “It made more sense for it to be more of a down-to-earth spy action movie rather than aliens and airplanes going through portals and stuff like that. The opportunity for Sam to really establish himself as a true Avenger and action star comes with this film.”
Mackie also made fun of him Brave New World serves as a fundamental reset for the MCU, sharing: “This movie is a clear reset. It really reestablishes the idea of what this universe is and what this universe will be… the same way they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
In the film, Sam Wilson faces his toughest challenge. After meeting with US President Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford In his MCU debut, Sam becomes entangled in an international crisis.
Tasked with uncovering the mastermind behind a global conspiracy, Sam must act before the entire world descends into chaos.
The cast of the film also includes Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv TylerAND Tim Blake Nelson.
The film was directed by Giulio Onah and produced by Kevin Feigethe film will be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.
