Jacob Elordi will replace Paul Mescal in Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic film THE DOG STARS

Giacobbe Elordi (Salt burner) is in talks to star Ridley Scottis the post-apocalyptic thriller The dog starsand will replace it Paolo Mescal (Gladiator 2), who had to abandon the project due to scheduling conflicts Sam Mendes’ Beatles anthology.

The dog stars is based on a 2012 novel by Peter Hellerand the story centers on the catastrophic influenza virus that wipes out nearly all of humanity.

The film follows the story of a civilian pilot living a lonely life on an abandoned Colorado air base with his dog and a tough ex-Marine, in a near future where an unnamed pandemic has decimated American society. The two men couldn’t be more matched but they depend on each other to fend off stray invaders.

“When a random transmission comes through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice sparks hope deep within the pilot that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter. Risking everything, he flies past the point of no return and follows his trail interrupted by electricity.

Elordi would play the pilot called Hig “who befriends a fractious gunman as they try to survive a roving gang of scavengers called the Reapers.”

The screenplay was written by Mark L. Smith (Twister) AND Christopher Wilkinson (Wings) is set up at 20th Century Studios. Scott is expected to make the film following his Bee Gees biopic for Paramount.
