Jon Bernthalit’s Frank Castle, aka The Punisheris set to make his return to Marvel Daredevil: Born Again Disney+ series. But a new rumor suggests that this will lead to another Punisher series that would serve as a continuation of the Netflix show, essentially serving as a third season.
The rumor originated from insider Daniel Richtman, and was supported by other top sources like @BeyondReporter, who wrote: “The new Punisher series will likely serve as a continuation of the Netflix show.”
This is in line with a previous report from @MyTimeToShineHello, who first hinted in May 2023 that a Punisher series could follow Daredevil: Born Again.
From Marvel Daredevil: Born Againwhich will premiere on March 4, 2025, will mark Bernthal’s official return to the MCU as Frank Castle. Brad WinderbaumMarvel’s head of streaming added fuel to the speculation, saying:
“He’s fantastic in that role and I can’t wait for you to see him on screen in this series, then there’s absolutely a future for him in the MCU.”
The original Punisher The series, which aired on Netflix for two seasons, received praise from fans for its raw and grounded storytelling. However, he moved away from the comics’ focus on Frank Castle’s vigilante crusade, leaning more into conspiracies related to his family’s tragedy.
This rumored Disney+ series may have a darker tone, staying true to the roots fans loved of the Netflix version.
@BeyondReporter also noted Marvel Studios’ larger plans. As well as possible Punisher series, projects such as Agata: Always Season 2, Jessica Jones Season 4 and even a revival of The fugitives are reportedly in development.
At the moment, Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed the news Punisher series, but fans would definitely love to see Bernthal’s Punsiher arc continue.
