THE PHANTOM MEANACE star Jake Lloyd shares an update on his mental health and his gratitude for Star Wars fans

25 years have passed since then Star Wars: The Phantom Menace introduced the young Anakin Skywalker to the public, but for Jake Lloydthe anniversary arrived without much celebration.

Now 35, the former child actor has spent the last two decades dealing with mental health issues, including a diagnosis of schizophrenia and a psychotic break that required extensive treatment.

In March last year, Lloyd’s mother revealed that Jake had completed an 18-month stay at a mental health rehabilitation facility. Recently, Jake spoke with reporter Clayton Sandell, offering an encouraging update on his recovery.

Although Jake is still being treated at a new facility, he now has more freedom and is cautiously optimistic about his progress.

When asked about the love and support he receives Star Wars fan, Jake expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing the connection as “immediately therapeutic.”

He explained: “The experience I had with the fans was immediately therapeutic. Right now it’s still therapeutic. It is useful for people and healthy. It’s not something I would shy away from.

Jake went on to reflect on his journey and the support he has received: “I really appreciate the time that was put into it.

“I am very grateful…[I’m] not bad, considering these 20 years have now come to an end. Now I can agree to continue treatment, therapy and my medications. Everyone has been very supportive.”

Even though he no longer attends fan conventions, Jake still finds joy Star Wars content, in particular Ahsoka onDisney+. He also revisited the galaxy through games, enjoying classics like Star Wars: The Old Republic AND Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

“I want to play The Force Unleashed II,” he shared. “I just beat the first one.” Although he hasn’t watched the movies or shows recently, Jake hinted at a return to the saga, saying, “I’m holding out for May the Fourth with my mom.”

Jake’s mother, Lisa, offered more insight into his recovery. “Jake is really getting much better than before. It’s a big relief for me and the rest of his family.

“We’re all really excited that he’s doing so well and that he’s working really hard to do it. We appreciate it.

Jake Lloyd may have faced significant challenges, but his story is inspiring and healing. We wish him continued progress.
