David Schwimmer stars in the upcoming season of the Disney+ anthology series Goosebumps, titled Goosebumps: the disappearance.
The actor is obviously aware of the popular franchise, which began as a series of books by the author R. L. Stineand launched many successful films, as well as the first season of the show he will join.
But he wasn’t one of the millions of readers who grew up reading scary children’s novels, as he was 25 when they started coming out.
Schwimmer spoke to GamesRadar about missing the hype of the books and having to ask around if he should take on the role. When asked what attracted him to the project, he explained:
“I love horror; I love action; I love comedy. Not to mention, like, this kind of huge book series that apparently everyone grew up with except me, because I was 25 when it came out.
“So I missed it as a kid, but as soon as I asked people, ‘Hey, have you heard of Gooseb–’, everyone to one person, they said, ‘Oh my God, you have to do this.’
“So, that was exciting too, participating in something that everyone already loves.”
He acknowledges that starring in something beloved means “there’s also a pressure that comes with it” where “you want to try to be good and not let anyone down.”
Even so, it is certain that “people will really like what we invented.” Goosebumps: the disappearance. “Honestly, it was just to be able to act in this type of story,” adds Schwimmer, “which I had never had the chance to do before.”
Looks like it’s going to be another fun one Goosebumps history. All eight episodes of Goosebumps: the disappearance will be released January 10th on Disney+ and Hulu.
