Craig Robinson will play the villain in the psychedelic comedy TOAD

The star of the office Craig Robinson has joined an upcoming production of a psychedelic comedy titled Toadand will take on the role of the villain.

The film comes from the director Adam Rifkin (Detroit Rock City), and is made in the spirit of films like Cheech and Chong In smoke, Bill and Ted’s Excellent AdventureAND Fear and loathing in Las Vegas.

Toad follows the “crazy story of two naive slackers, Sam (James Paxton From Twister) and Alex (Oliver Wymann From I feel like Randy), who are hired to transport a box of contraband psychedelic toads from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

“When the desert heat causes the toads to suffer heatstroke, our two heroes are inadvertently drugged when performing CPR on the toads and suddenly find themselves on a hallucinogenic odyssey.”

Robinson will take on the role of Charles, “a charming, yet terrifying crime boss who entrusts the delivery of his precious toads to Sam and Alex.

“When Sam and Alex fail to make it to Las Vegas on schedule, an enraged Charles and his hulking henchmen are forced to intervene.”

Rifkin said in a statement: “Craig Robinson is not only a comedic genius, but he is also the nicest guy in the world. That’s why I’m even more excited for him to play our villain.

“I can’t wait to see that adorable smile of hers turn dark. It’s an honor to work with such a fun and talented guy on this hugely important film!”

Robinson says: “I love Adam Rifkin movies and I love toads. The fact that the script is hilarious and the cast is stellar didn’t hurt either.”

Producer Michael PJ Gerstein says: “The entire production team is absolutely thrilled that Craig has joined our project. Toad is thrilled by his participation and this film will blow audiences away.”

Filming of the film will begin in February.
