The new POWER RANGERS film is reportedly in development at Paramount Pictures

It looks like Paramount Pictures will return to the movie business Power Rangers franchise and try to reboot it with a new movie.

There was an attempt to reboot the Power Rangers film franchise in 2017, but that vision for the franchise was unsuccessful. Not long after, Hasbro teamed up with Netflix and Paramount to build a Power Rangers cinematic universe involving both TV and film, but nothing came of that.

Well, now according to Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman a new film is in early development at Paramount. Another report from @Jinsakuu claims that this is a full reboot and not tied to the previous Netflix project at all.

It was also explained that Hasbro and Paramount have been in talks for a few months and have evidently made substantial progress in those discussions.

If things go well, Paramount and Skydance will retain the media rights to Power Rangers and move quickly in developing the new film.

It has also been reported that a purchase of the property has been discussed and both companies remain open to the option, but it will be a matter of determining the right price to make it happen.

At the moment, however, they are working together on the film and the plan is to release it in theaters at the end of 2026.

There are no story details to share, but anyone who’s a Power Rangers fan knows what to expect. Hopefully this time the studios bring in a strong creative team that knows what to do with the franchise.

A Power Rangers movie franchise could be huge, but the studio really needs to capture the tone and spirit of the classic action-adventure franchise and tell a story that allows audiences to connect with fans and audiences.
