Harrison Ford seems to enjoy pushing the limits, and even at 82, he’s still willing to take on intense, physical roles. We will see the actor play President Thaddeus RossCaptain America: Brave New Worldand will see him transform into Red Hulk.
It turns out that Ford is taking on the challenge of playing this role with the same energy that made him an action icon.
The film will see Anthony MackieSam Wilson, now Captain America, goes up against Red Hulk and it’s a battle Marvel fans can’t wait to see, and Ford insisted he do some of his own moving stunts with Red Hulk.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Weta visual effects supervisor Dan Cox shared a fun behind-the-scenes moment that highlights Ford’s enthusiasm for taking on this role. Cox said:
“Let me tell you, everything was fine that morning. The last thing you want is to be the person who hurts Harrison Ford. At some point, I needed him [to land]and I thought, “We can have the stuntman do it.”
“He says, ‘No, no, no! I’ll do it.” I put a box of apples about two feet off the ground. I say, “I need you to jump to the ground and land like the Hulk.”
“He did it about a dozen times and every time I held my breath! But he went all in.”
This is not surprising for a man who has built his career on action and adventure films. Ford has always been a practical actor. Even off-screen, his adrenaline-filled lifestyle includes piloting planes and the occasional crash landing.
But hearing Ford willingly dive into the physically demanding world of motion capture is really cool! He didn’t have to do it, but he did!
Ford’s Red Hulk is featured in the film’s trailer and this appears to be the most exciting part of the film for fans.
Sam Wilson officially took over the role of Captain America in Marvel’s finale The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In the film “After the meeting with the newly elected president of the United States Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford Making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident.
“He must uncover the motive behind a nefarious global conspiracy before the true mastermind causes the entire world to see red.”
The film is directed by Giulio Onah and produced by Kevin Feige AND Nate Moore.
Captain America: Brave New World will be released in American theaters on February 14, 2025.
