James Bond producers reportedly in conflict with Amazon over next 007 film: ‘These people are fucking idiots’

James Bond fans may have to keep their martinis on ice a little longer. As we approach 2025, it will mark four years since then There’s no time to die has been released, and there’s still no sign that there’s been any substantial movement on the next Bond adventure.

According to a new report from The Wall Street Journalthe delay in Bond 26 could be linked to a heated feud between EON Productions and Amazon-MGM Studios.

The report, which includes information from more than 20 insiders, executives, business partners and friends of those involved, paints a picture of growing tensions between EON’s Barbara Broccoli and the Amazon team.

Broccoli, known for fiercely guarding the legacy of Ian FlemingAmazon’s iconic spy franchise reportedly described Amazon’s approach to the franchise as: “These people are fucking idiots.”

While this is not an official statement, it captures the frustration reportedly simmering between the two sides.

The alleged conflict stems from Amazon’s push to rapidly expand the Bond universe, launching various spin-offs and television projects following their 2022 merger with MGM.

However, EON Productions, which holds full creative control over the Bond brand, has been strong in preserving the quality and exclusivity of the franchise. This control, exercised by Broccoli and his production partner Michael G. Wilsonhas historically ensured that the Bond films maintained their distinct cinematic identity.

Amazon’s eagerness to exploit the 007 brand clashes with EON’s careful management. One source described the merger as an exacerbation of pre-existing tensions, leading to a creative tug-of-war that reportedly bogged down Bond 26’s development.

Compounding the problems is a key decision that remains unresolved…. Who will play the next James Bond? While EON has a history of casting relatively unknown actors to play the role, Amazon presumably prefers a more commercially bankable star.

Reports and rumors have focused on names like Aaron Taylor-Johnsonwhose odds for the next Bond have risen in fan betting circles. However, no official announcements have been made.

Jennifer Salke, global head of Amazon-MGM, recently hinted that patience is key as the two sides navigate this critical moment. His comments suggest Bond’s return isn’t happening anytime soon. reinforcing the idea that there might actually be something to this feud between Broccoli and Amazon.

While we wait to see who will play the next Bond, one thing is for sure… fans will have to wait longer than expected.
