Last week it was revealed Chris Evans is set to return to the MCU in Avengers: Judgment Day and that he will play a version of Steve Rogers known as Nomad.
Now we have some new details to share with you about Evans’ return and how the film will feature an “overwhelming number of variations.”
We found out later Hayley Atwell she’ll be back as Agent Peggy Carter, and I’ve had my theories about that Robert Downey Jr.’s in the film and his potential return as Tony Stark, and this new report reinforces that theory.

According to The Cosmic Circus, several actors will be pulling “double duty.” Avengers: Judgment Day AND Avengers: Secret Wars. Evans is said to be “definitely” playing the Steve Rogers version of Avengers: Endgame and it is believed that the film will visit that timeline after he and Peggy reunite for a happy ending.
It is also said that “Evans may play another character in the film opposite him [Robert Downey Jr.s’] Doctor Doom.”
Alex Perez also said, “I’ve heard rumors that his time as Johnny Storm isn’t necessarily over.”
As for the variations that will be included Avengers: Judgment DayMarvel Studios is said to be giving all the characters a real purpose in the story rather than treating them as fan-service or disposable cameos.
The report goes on to say, “What I can tell you is that the secondary antagonists, whoever they are, according to my sources, will be Variants.
“There will be a huge number of variations in these films, many more of the characters that will appear in these films than in Earth-616. Some will be good, some will be bad, and some will be truly worse.”
If this is true, then it is very possible to see Downey Jr. return as Tony Stark as well. As I said before, if the rest of the Avengers team came together to fight Doom, it would make sense to see Tony Stark’s Iron Man return as well.
Avengers: Judgment Day will be released in May 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars expected arrival in May 2027.
