LORD OF THE RINGS Producer Responds to ‘Pupposed Rivalry’ With RINGS OF POWER Series

The Lord of the Rings franchise made a big comeback recently with Amazon The Rings of Power series and WB The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim and the upcoming live-action Middle-earth films that will launch with The Hunt for Gollum.

There is said to be a rivalry between the creative teams behind it The Rings of Power WB series and movies. Well, writer and producer Philippa Boyens recently addressed these rumors and clarifies that they are not true.

He told GamesRadar+: “I have that belief and I hope it’s true in terms of The Rings of PowerI think being able to expand into the world is only a good thing.

“I particularly love that particular piece of Middle-earth history. Some people seem to think that there is a rivalry or conflict between the projects, but there is absolutely nothing and I don’t think there is on their part either. They should complement each other at affair. Let’s get more Tolkien, you can never have too much?”

That’s what I’m saying! The more Tolkien, the better, and I’m completely open to different interpretations and views of his work.

Boyens went on to talk about why they decided to make an animated film The Rohirrim Warsaying:

“We knew we wanted it to be a stand-alone story so we could introduce new characters to the audience. We wanted the world of Middle-earth, as we know it, to be there on the periphery, but not drive the story: it wasn’t driven by the Dark Lord or from the Ring.

“We also knew that we didn’t necessarily want to anchor him to one of the characters from the live-action films, not yet, at least.”

So, the creative team set out on a journey to tell the story of the rebellious warrior princess Héra (Gaia Wise). Boyens said: “I think some people think we deliberately decided to have a lead female character, but when you asked, why not one of the sons? Did you see what happened to those boys? It becomes apparent.”

“They’re interesting characters and voiced beautifully by our actors in the story, but really fated characters. When you look at what’s at the beginning and at the heart of this conflict, it’s actually that nameless daughter.

“If you start adding other layers to this, for example, what if the boy who comes forward to seek her hand is a friend of hers, her childhood friend? So many things get destroyed along the way.

“As you start to delve into that, you follow the natural thread of the story, which is the wreckage of the war. Who was left standing during these incredible events that unfold? So, the story itself started to tell us who was going to be the Most interesting character to see this story through.”

Set 183 years before the events of the original film trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim tells the “fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan.

“A sudden attack by Wulf, a cunning and ruthless Dunland lord seeking revenge for his father’s death, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient hold of Hornburg, a mighty fortress which will later become reality.” known as Helm’s Deep.

“Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, Helm’s daughter, must find the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy bent on their total destruction.”

The original anime film from New Line Cinema The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim comes from the award-winning director Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus AND Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex TV series).
