The ARCANE showrunner suggests that the spin-offs will focus on individual characters from the series

Arcane showrunner and co-creator Cristiano Linke continues to talk about the future of League of Legends animated universe, the projects that will give rise to it Arcane.

During a recent interview with The Direct, Linke suggests that the spinoff features “individual stories” of characters from Arcane’s first two seasons. So even if there isn’t a Arcane There’s still a lot of interest in season three in exploring some familiar faces in other projects.

When asked if a third season of Arcane was ever taken into consideration, Linke said: “Not so much the third season, but the individual stories of some of the characters in Arcane, in both seasons.”

He added: “[There] they’re definitely like, ‘Hey, let’s continue their stories with their kind of franchises and stories.’ So surely Arcane is only the first. We want to keep telling stories.”

It was recently teased that there are three projects currently in development with Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia as the “next steps towards this cinematic universe.” There is also a project set in Runeterra.

However, it was made clear that this is actually a project potentially focusing on three regions of the universe and not three separate shows.

Speaking about the first creative phases of the post-Arcana projects, it was said that a film could also be on the cards.

He said, “Yes, it takes time. What I said [in the Twitch interview] we were exploring these regions – Noxus, Ionia – and we were always focusing on the characters, you know?

“When we think about the stories we’re exploring, we always talk about a specific champion or character, which I can’t name yet, because there are several.”

Linke continued: “But yes, it takes time, depending on whether it’s a series or a movie. We’re exploring both in many, many directions.

“A lot depends on finding the right people, the right vision, the right idea, the right story. It will take years and once we know something is happening, we will talk more about it.”

While it will be a long time before we see another animated project from Riot, it’s something I’m looking forward to.
