The enigmatic founder of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamotois the subject of a new film project produced by David O. Sacks Productions, Mark Goffman and Getaway Entertainment.
Sofia Banks will direct the film, which will be based on Andrew O’Hagan’s article “The Satoshi Affair.” The film will “delve into the mystery surrounding the elusive creator of the world’s most revolutionary digital currency, fusing investigative journalism with compelling storytelling.”
The film will explore the “dramatic events that led O’Hagan to investigate the mysterious figure known only as Satoshi Nakamoto, and his quest to uncover the true identity of the cryptic inventor behind Bitcoin.”
O’Hagan’s journalistic article “takes readers on a journey through the technological innovation that has transformed the global financial system, along with the many eccentric and mercurial personalities he has encountered.”
Sacks shared in a statement: “This film will be like watching The Social Network without knowing who Mark Zuckerberg’s character might actually be. I’m happy to have the right team to bring O’Hagan’s investigation and the events following that period to life.”
Producer Damiano Tucci added: “We are so excited to collaborate with David, Daniel and Mark on this next project. The story of the creator of Bitcoin is one that has fascinated the world for years. We can’t wait to dive into one of the biggest mysteries of today and provide a deeper look into the world of cryptocurrencies.”
Banks said: “I look forward to the challenge of bringing such a complex story to life. This film will not only explore the question “Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?” but also the cultural and technological ripple effect that the creation of Bitcoin has had, and continues to have, on our world.”
Mark Goffman, the writer behind the script, added: “What I like is that it’s not yet another story about cryptocurrency scammers or even greed. This is the story of highly flawed and overlooked outsiders who rebelled against Wall Street in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis that took everything away from them and millions of other people. And they created a currency that revolutionized the global financial sector.”
This sounds like it could turn out to be a fascinating film.
