James Gunn is once again hyping up his Superman star David Corenswet. After saying the actor will “blow people’s minds,” the director is new by saying he will “scare everyone with how good he is in the role.”
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn said: “Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, David Corenswet is going to scare everyone with how great he is. He’s one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with, and he can do it all. That man is incredible .”
Well, I hope for his sake that the hype is real! He only raised fans’ expectations by saying these things, and I hope Corenswet gives a fantastic performance as Superman.
The last movie I saw him in was Twisters, and he was pretty boring in that. I guess Gunn was able to tap into the actor’s true talent in bringing Clark Kent/Superman to life.
Franco Grillo also praised the new Man of Steel actor, saying, “By the way, this guy, David [Corenswet]he will become a superstar. A superstar. He’s great, as are the rest of the film’s cast, and it’s very much James’ point of view. I think it will be the movie.”
Gunn also revealed that test screenings for Superman have begun, but didn’t share how they were going.
Superman will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas.
“He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
“It’s set in a world very different from ours and very far from the DCEU. Heroes have been around for centuries and we’ll see how that has influenced the history of this world and shaped the DCU.”
Superman stars Rachel Brosnahan lead to Superman and Lois Lane, Nicola Hoult as Lex Luthor; Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern; Isabela Mercede as Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific; Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen; María Gabriela de Faría in the role of Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampaioas Eva Teschmacher; AND Terence Rosemore as Otis.
Superman will launch the cinematic portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. The theatrical release is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
