SCREAM V actress apologizes for killing Dewy – “I’m so sorry, I didn’t write the script”

V screams actress Mikey Madison he recently spoke out about the movie and apologized for killing off Dewy Riley, who was a fan-favorite historical character.

Madison was the murderous Ghostface in the movie and I wasn’t a fan of that By David Arquette Dewy was killed as he was.

During a recent interview with Madison, she admitted to Collider: “I have to be honest, when I made the movie, it seems naive, but I wasn’t as aware of the huge fan base that the franchise has, which I have now been able to discover.

Cry and horror fans and people who love horror movies are the best people ever, but I really went into it naively.

You have to remember that Madison wasn’t even born when the first movie came out, so she didn’t get to experience that pop culture wonder.

She went on to talk about Dewy’s passing, saying, “And so I remember being a little sad because I was like, ‘Oh, such a great character. It will be sad to see him go.” And then I realized the pain that so many people felt.

“People came up to me and said, ‘I hate that this happened. I’m mad at you.” And I say, ‘I’m so sorry, I didn’t write the script!’ I didn’t want to do it.

Yes, it’s not his fault. It was the writers and directors who made the decision to kill off Dewy, and it’s one of the dumbest decisions they could have made.

Neve Campbell he previously shared his thoughts on Dewy and how he didn’t want to see the character killed off, saying:

“I was so sad about Dewey’s death. I thought it was tragic and I usually don’t like to criticize the writing on these projects. [But] I was really disappointed in their choice to get rid of David.

“It’s so… I mean, Dewey is a really wonderful character and I think we were all in love with him and I think we all felt pretty sad about it. That’s obviously why they do it because it has a bigger impact, but I miss it now. I want to see him more.”

Madison also talked about the audition process, saying she sent in her tape and didn’t hear back for about eight months.

“Then they came back and said, ‘Hey, would you like to be in this movie? The character would be the Scream character Ghostface.’ I thought, “Yeah, that sounds really fun.”

“I would absolutely love to do it, and I would especially love to play this Ghostface character,’ because it’s such an interesting and fun revelation, and it’s also such a crazy and unpredictable arc for a character.”

Madison went on to share what she likes about the Scream franchise and how the characters “are so self-aware in a way where all the actors know exactly what kind of movie they’re in and you can have fun.” .”

We have another chapter of the Cry franchise coming soon Scream VIIwhich will be released on February 27, 2026, with Neve Campbell returning to star and Kevin Williamson direct.
