Samuel Goldwyn Films has released the American trailer for the new film adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo.
In the French film “Target of a sinister plot, young Edmond Dantès (Pierre Niney) is arrested on his wedding day for a crime he did not commit.
“After fourteen years spent in prison on the island of Château d’If, he manages to escape daringly. Now rich beyond his dreams, he assumes the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo and exacts his revenge on the three men who betrayed him…”
This story has been adapted many times before with the 1934 film Roberto Donat AND Elissa Landithe 1975 film featuring Riccardo Ciambellano AND Trevor Howardand the 2002 film with Jim Caviezel AND Guy Pearce.
The Count of Monte Cristo is co-written and co-directed by Alexandre de La Patellière AND Matthieu Delaporte (The Three Musketeers). He is the protagonist Pierre Niney in the role of Edmondo, Anaïs Demoustier like Mercedes, Bastien Bouillon, Anamaria Vartolomei, Laurent LafitteAND Julien De Saint Jean.
The Count of Monte Cristo the film will be released in select theaters on December 20, 2024. Sounds like a great adaptation!
