Prime Video’s next video game anthology series Secret level looks pretty damn awesome, and an episode I’m super excited about it is Keanu ReevesThe story of “Armored Core”.
During an interview with GamesRadar+, creator of the series Tim Miller and executive producer Dave Wilson they talked about how they convinced Reeves to sign on for the project, and it wasn’t that difficult since the actor is a fan of their Netflix show Love, death and robots.
Miller said: “We’ve never worked with him before, although I’d met him briefly. He’s a big fan of animation, and he came to Blur [Studios] to tell me about a movie, another movie and he said, “What I really want to talk about is Love, Death and Robots.” Can you tell me everything? I love animation.’
“I said, ‘Well, we’re doing this other thing. Would you like to be a part of it?’ And he said, “Fuck, yeah.” I said, ‘Is there anything in particular you want to play?’ And he essentially said, “No, just put me on coach.”
“So I asked Dave, ‘If you had to choose Keanu Reeves for the show, what character would it be?’ and at first Dave thought I was joking about Keanu Reeves wanting to be on the show.”
Wilson then shared his side of the story, saying, “[Miller] says into his phone, like that character from Hacks, and so you get these weird messages that don’t make any sense at all.
“I got this message: ‘Hey, do we have anything for the piano?’ And I’m like, “What?” And then I realized and then, yeah, I didn’t believe it.”
Miller then sent a video of Reeves to the studio to prove that what he was telling him was true.
Wilson added: “Keanu actually came on, it was quite late in the series, and we had all the art hanging on the walls. So there weren’t many episodes left to choose from, so I started getting videos from other actors, and I I thought, ‘Tim, I have no roles left.'”
Speaking about what it was like working with Reeves, Wilson said: “You hear all the stories about how wonderful Keanu is, but often he’s just a publicity machine. And I can tell you without any exaggeration, he’s the nicest person to work with. .
“I mean, we only shoot for a day or two usually, but he shows up, prepared, ready to go. I think he shot for 13 hours straight. He’s just a fabulous human being.”
Armored Core is described as follows: “The definitive mech combat series has been reinvented. On a frozen frontier world, a legendary mech pilot discovers that his latest mission may hold the key to eliminating the demons that have haunted him for decades.
