Mubi has released the trailer of a disturbing film titled The girl with the needlea Danish gothic thriller set in the depths of Copenhagen in 1919, after the First World War.
Followed by The Girl with the Needle Carolina (Vic Carmen Sonne), “a young worker struggling to survive in post-war Copenhagen. When she finds herself unemployed, abandoned and pregnant, she meets Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm), a charismatic woman who runs a clandestine adoption agency, helping mothers find foster homes for their unwanted children.
“With no one else to turn to, Karoline takes on the role of a nurse. A strong bond forms between the two women, but Karoline’s world is shattered when she stumbles upon the shocking truth behind her job.
The film is inspired by a true story, which makes it that much more disturbing.
The Girl with the Needle is directed by Magnus von Horn, and he also stars in it Trine Dyrholmwith Besir Zeciri, Ava Knox MartinAND Joachim Fjelstrup.
I hear it’s a great movie and will be released in select US theaters on December 6, 2024.
