Keanu Reeves taking on the role of Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 It’s pretty inspired casting. There’s no doubt he’ll be great in the role, and he recently spoke about the “intense” process of getting into character during recording.
In a newly released featurette Reeves shared: “For 50 years, Shadow has been in a state of suspended animation. He’s coming out of it seeking revenge. It’s really been an internal journey to get to the anger and the emotion. It’s been intense. .”
He added: “Sonic 3 and playing Shadow are really on another level.”
The behind-the-scenes video also features the star of Dr. Robotnik Jim Carreywho also shared his reaction to Reeves’ casting.
He said: “When I heard Keanu Reeves wanted to play Shadow I thought, ‘Oh that’s good.’ Then I went [gestures a come at me sign]”, before adding: “Shadow has the kind of sympathetic, brooding darkness that Keanu has mastered so brilliantly.”
The film is said to be Sonic’s most exciting adventure yet. “Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they’ve ever faced before.
“With their abilities surpassed in every way, Team Sonic must seek an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.”
Ben Schwartz he’s back as Sonic and includes the rest of the cast as well James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone.
Furthermore, Colleen O’Shaughnesseyvocals Miles “Tails” Prower, e Idris Elba Knuckles the Echidna voices. Keanu Reeves he’s playing Shadow.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will premiere in theaters on December 20.
