LOKI Season 2 Deleted Scene Includes References to Hercules and Absorbing Man

Over two seasons of Marvel’s Disney+ series Lokiwe learned a lot about the evil villain played by Tom Hiddlestonwho came to win our hearts.

And in a deleted scene from the show’s second season, which we can watch in the upcoming 4K UHD Blu-ray release, Loki gives us another glimpse into his past. The God of Mischief recalls how many people “said I was trouble” while talking to his friend Mobius (Owen Wilson) on top of the lime pie slices.

Loki names Thor’s compatriots on Asgard: Volstagg (Ray Stevenson), Hogan (Tadanobu Asano) and Fandral (Josh Dallas AND Zechariah Levi), as well as Laufey (Colm Feore), king of the Frost Giants and biological father of Loki, and Bor (Tony Curran), father of Odin and adoptive grandfather of Loki. And he mentions Heimdall twice because, says Loki, “Heimdall was great!”

From Earth, Loki lists Thor’s girlfriend, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), his scientific colleague Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) and his intern Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings). He also names SHIELD director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) – as well as Donald Blake, “who Thor pretends to be when he goes to Earth”.

Among these names, Loki also mentions two characters from Marvel comics that the public has not yet met in the MCU. The first is Amora, also known as the Enchantress, a magical Asgardian and one of Thor’s enemies.

The second is another villain, Absorbing Man, who began life as a boxer named Carl Creel, until Loki poisons him with an elixir that gives him the ability to transform his body into the quality of anything he touches.

Finally, Loki mentions Hercules, the Greek demigod who has appeared in Marvel Comics since 1965. The character made his MCU debut in the post-credits scene in 2022. Thor: Love and Thunderas interpreted by Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein.

In that scene, Hercules’ father, Zeus (Russell Crowe), orders his son to strike down Thor (after Thor impales Zeus with his own thunderbolt). Marvel Studios hasn’t announced when – or if – Hercules might return to the MCU, but according to Loki, this wasn’t the first time Hercules had clashed with Odin’s family.

“Hercules – another big boy,” Loki tells Mobius. “I was a big problem for him.”
