Emmy nominated actress Jessica Biel (The illusionist, The sinner, Candy) is currently in negotiations to join Giovanni Cena in the movie Box of matchesa live-action feature film from Apple Original Films, Skydance and Mattel Films to be directed by Sam Hargraveof Extraction film franchise. The new film is based on a screenplay by David Coggeshall (Prey) AND Jonathan Tropper (The Adam project).
The film will be inspired by Mattel’s iconic line of die-cast toy vehicles of the same name. The legendary Matchbox brand was invented in 1953 by car enthusiast Jack Odell to solve a challenge for his daughter, who was only allowed to bring a toy to school if it was small enough to fit in a matchbox.
When her daughter’s school friends also began clamoring for a “matchbox car,” an iconic brand was born. The high standards of authenticity of Matchbox diecast cars have guided the brand for over 70 years and generations of fans. Today, two Matchbox cars are sold every second worldwide.
Biel is currently filming the Amazon MGM Studios series The best sister, opposite Elizabeth Banks AND Kim Dickens. She is also an executive producer of the series.
