One of the biggest problems I have with Sam Wilson becoming the MCU’s new Captain America is that he has no superpowers, but when he fights people, he fights like he has superpowers.
Wilson will find himself fighting powerful super-powered villains in the MCU, and at some point in it too Captain America: Brave New World will have to face The Red Hulk, a character that no one could beat without superpowers.
But, in a way, Wilson will have superpowers because, apparently, the suit he wears enhances his abilities, including his strength.
While showcasing Disney APAC content in Singapore, Anthony Mackie addressed how the new Captain America will deal with super-powered threats without the super soldier serum coursing through his veins.
He said: “Sam’s evolution is simple. He’s still a counselor. He still serves the soldiers, but at the same time he’s now a leader of his community in the country. It’s very different with the serum: you can fight anyone.
“When you don’t have the serum, you have to be smart and plan different ways to defeat it [enemies]. Sam being a consultant uses his brain more than his brawn. He uses his wits more than his fist. He’s more of a friend to everyone.”
He goes on to explain that his new suit will even the odds in these fights, saying, “It’s a high-tech suit. I went to Wakanda, met everyone in Wakanda, had dinner. It was an amazing time. They threw a welcome party . It was great, but when I left they gave me a dress, right?”
“I’ve been wearing it. I can kick harder, I can fly faster and it gives me the ability to be more agile in my abilities, so it’s taking all my skills to a whole different level.”
As for what fans can expect from Captain America’s latest adventure, he joked, “If you look at these Marvel movies, they go with different genres. You’ve got the fantasy world, you’ve got the space world, you’ve got the raccoon world. With the Captain America stories, it’s always been a grounded, realistic world.”
“This film stays in line with the original Captain America, with that thrill, that espionage, that grounded nature of storytelling and really involving the audience in the story.”
In the film “After the meeting with the newly elected president of the United States Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford Making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident.
“He must uncover the motive behind a nefarious global conspiracy before the true mastermind causes the entire world to see red.”
The first reactions that emerged from the film were not good. the film is described as “irrelevant” and “flat”. But we’ll just have to wait to see the film with our own eyes.
