Alan Tudyk is part of the impressive voice cast of the DC animated series Commando of creatures. When his casting was announced, we learned that he would be playing the role of Doctor Phosphorus on the show, but now it’s been revealed that he’ll also be voicing Clayface!
Tudyk himself recently broke the news during an interview with Rotten Tomatoes. When asked how his experience playing other DC villains in the past helped him prepare for Creature Commandos, he said:
“The other DC villains I play are in ‘Harley Quinn,’ which is very comedic. It’s a straight comedy, whereas this is a fun drama, which has humorous elements within it, but it has action, drama and passion.
Then he talked about Clayface, saying, “Clayface is a moron. I actually play Clayface in this series.”
Tudyk labeled his version of Clayface from the Harley Quinn show an “idiot” and revealed that, in Creature Commandos, “Clayface is a murderer. We have a violent fight and he’s a homicidal maniac.
“So it’s the same character, that’s what’s really cool about DC. I can play the same character in two completely different ways and I like them both. It’s really cool that James let me play Clayface. I was so happy.
I should point out that it was previously reported that Tudky plays a secret role in James Gunn’s Superman movie, it would be crazy if he showed up as Clayface!
The series “tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… they are your last, worst option.”
The team in the series consists of a human, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster and a gorgon. The voice cast includes Davide Porto as Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn as Weasel and GI Robot, Franco Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova in the role of Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma in the role of the Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, with Steve Agee reprising his role as John Economos from Peacemaker.
Commando of creatures will premiere on Max on December 5, 2024.
