Ben Mendelsohn talks about playing Orson Krennic in ANDOR Season 2

Ben Mendelsohn reprises his role as the villainous Orson Krennic in Andor Season 2 and it will be great to see this character in action again.

Krennic is an interesting villain as he is a sort of go-between in the Empire who is overseeing the completion of the Death Star. Mendelsohn was great at bringing this character to life, and I loved how sleazy he was and how he saw himself as something more than he really was.

During a recent interview with Empire, Mendelsohn talked about his role on the series and how he will face more competition, including Denise Gough the ultra ambitious Dedra Meero.

She spoke about the couple’s dynamic, saying, “If they don’t see eye to eye, that’s nice to me. Dedra vs. Krennic? I think it’s a bit of a mismatch. They are all subjected to Krennic. They’re all going in one direction. The Empire, if you speak your mind, there are differences of opinion.

And if the series will also see the return of Tarkin, the original Star Wars villain played by the late Peter Cushing, who took all the credit for the Death Star in Rogue One, Mendelsohn said:

«You know I can’t answer and I’m glad I can’t answer your question. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Season two will conclude the series and take us through the years of Cassian Andor’s journey as a spy for the Rebellion and how he tracked down the secret to the construction of the Death Star.

Creator Tony Gilroy explained how the story will unfold in the final season of the series by saying, “When we come back later, it will literally be like a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And then we’ll skip a year, and then it’ll be, like, four or five days, and then we’ll skip a year, and then it’ll be another four or five days, and then we’ll skip a year, and it’ll be another four or five days.”

He also talked about the imperial side of things, saying: “So think about it from the imperial side and they’re getting very, very close to a very important energy project. People may have heard about it. It’s an energy project.

“I guess it’s not a surprise, but I think you’ll see the wear and tear, you’ll see all the stress, all the pain and all the triumph of the 20 or 30 people that we’re bringing forward, with Cassiano at the center.

“You’re going to see those people stumble into a very complicated mess and a story that we’re going to pay attention to.”

Andor The second season will premiere on Disney+ on April 22, 2025.
