While we wait Gladiator II be released, director Ridley Scott and actor Paolo Mescal are already planning to reunite for a new project titled The dog stars for the 20th century.
The film follows the story of a civilian pilot living a lonely life on an abandoned Colorado air base with his dog and a tough ex-Marine, in a near future where an unnamed pandemic has decimated American society. The two men couldn’t be more matched, but they depend on each other to fend off stray invaders.
“When a random transmission comes through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice sparks hope deep within the pilot that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter. Risking everything, he flies past the point of no return and follows his trail interrupted by electricity.
The film is based on the book by Peter Hellar and the film’s screenplay was written by Mark L Smith.
When previously we were talking about working with Scott Gladiator IIMescal said, “There is no better director than Ridley Scott to focus on the audience’s sense of entertainment.”
Speaking about Mescal, Scott said: “Paul is very intelligent, so all he has to do is get beyond the scope of what I’m going to get him into. When I accompanied him to the set of Rome in Malta, I told him: “You’ll get through this in two hours.” This is all for you, this is all for me. Let’s go make it happen together.’ That’s all. Part of my job is to take it lightly.”
The two obviously had a great working relationship with each other and want the collaboration to continue The dog stars. Beyond that, Scott is also developing a third Gladiator movie.
