Ansel Elgort is set to star in the upcoming survival thriller film project Faster than horses. The film will be directed by James Erskine.
The film is inspired by a true story and based on an article by Hampton Sides. It follows “a former Olympic runner who attempts a return to glory in the world’s toughest foot race – the Marathon des Sables – which is a series of consecutive marathons across the Sahara Desert.
“But when a devastating sandstorm overwhelms the race, he finds himself lost in the Sahara Desert, engaged in a ten-day battle not for victory, but for survival.”
The screenplay was written by Michele Mul, Chris Muland Erskine. It is produced by British adventurer Bear Grylls, who said: “I’ve known this story for many years and I’m so excited to be part of the team bringing it to life.
“Working with Ansel to give him insight into the role and add authenticity to his performance was truly rewarding. Ansel’s portrayal of a man struggling against impossible odds to survive, both physically and emotionally, will captivate audiences. The story is amazing.”
Erskine added: “From the first time I heard this story, I was mesmerized by it and am excited to bring it to the screen.
“Demanding a totally immersive performance, I know that Ansel will be absolutely brilliant in telling the story of a man fighting to survive against all odds, a powerful story of struggle and redemption set in some of the most dramatic landscapes on earth.”
This sounds like an exciting story that will make a great movie! I like these types of stories and I’m getting ready to run a marathon myself right now, so I’m in the mindset of being really interested in a movie like this.
