He announced it recently Godzilla minus one writer and director Takashi Yamazaki he’s returning to direct another one Godzilla film for Toho.
Well, it turns out that the director was offered several more directorial assignments after the success of his first Godzilla film, and rejected them all to tackle this new one Godzilla film project.
I mean, after the incredible work he did with the first film, it’s no surprise to see Toho and Yamazaki team up for another collaboration.
During an interview with Cinema Today in Japan, Yamazaki shared his excitement about his new project and said, “We will make a new Godzilla movie!”
“I’m here to tell you that I can’t announce anything else about the new film. I’m really happy to see this emotion. I’m also happy that there are so many children here.
“Godzilla has gradually become something for adults, so the fact that there are more children as fans and that the next generation is growing up is really positive for the future of Godzilla.”
The director continued: “Godzilla Minus One did a little too well and a lot of obstacles arose. Thinking about it, I feel like this might be the worst draw.
“I’ll do my best! I started getting all kinds of awesome [film] offers…I can’t tell you what offers they were. I turned them down, crying bloody tears, because they were making a new Godzilla movie.
Obviously, Yamazaki has a strong connection to Godzilla and didn’t want to miss the opportunity to make another Godzilla film.
While I’m excited to see him return to Godzilla’s world, I can’t wait to see him do something else. I have no doubt that more offers will come after the next one Godzilla movie.
