FilmQuest, one of the world’s largest genre festivals and one of MovieMaker Magazine’s “25 Greatest Film Festivals in the World” in 2024, begins its eleventh season, in Downtown Provo this week and runs for ten full days from the 24th. October to November 2nd.
The festival is characterized by projects by and featuring Ed Harris, Joel McHale, Felicia Day, Douglas Jones, Barbara Crampton, Tony Todd, Tobin Bell, Patricia Heaton, Cristo Fernandez, Donald Logue, Pietro Stormare, Katie Parker, Danny Trejo, and more from the more than 300 films featured at FilmQuest this season, which includes feature and short films from 30 nations that showcase the industry’s most exciting and emerging genre filmmaking talent.
“Each year, in the heart of Utah, FilmQuest continues to defy expectations and attract the attention of the entire film industry as it has firmly established itself as one of the largest genre film festivals in the world,” said the founder and director of the festival. Jonathan Martin.

Among the many highlights of a program full of female directors is the world premiere of Joanna Tsanis The Killgrinthe science fiction comedy by Stimson Snead Tim Travers and the time traveler paradox, Angela GulnerIt’s the supernatural thriller The Beldhamthe epic animated film animated entirely by one person, Worlds dividethe cosmic horror film The Demon, Rachel Cainit’s a mind-bending sci-fi experience Somniusand Tony Todd and Tobin Bell’s alien invasion film The bunker.
Workshops and workshops from established distributors, podcasters and industry veterans, including a workshop from Kathryn Lyn, Hugo Award-nominated novelist and writer and producer of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

The event will conclude with an audiovisual awards ceremony on November 2 with the presentation of the coveted Cthulhu Trophy to the winners in the feature film, short film, student film, animation and music video categories.
