Sebastian Stan talks about the roles he was “desperately seeking” in STAR TREK and GREEN LANTERN

Sebastiano Stan he had a pretty strong acting career thanks to Marvel and landed the role of Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Solider Captain America.

But, before that role came along, he was hustling in Hollywood and auditioning for many roles, looking for one that would give him his big break. Two film projects he recently talked about that he really wanted to make were Star Trek AND Green Lantern.

During an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stan said, “There were a couple of things that I didn’t understand that I really desperately wanted.”

He went on to talk about his experience trying to land the role of Captain Kirk, saying, “But Captain Kirk for JJ Abrams; he was one of the first ones I got really close to.

“I remember being really close and I remember auditioning with him [Abrams] at Paramount, and my manager had me do a separate photo shoot where I was going to try to replicate all these photos of William Shatner just to send it to him, to see how much I looked like him, but I didn’t get it.

Chris Pine eventually landed the role. Stan then went on to discuss trying to land the lead role of Hal Jordan in Green Lantern.

The actor recalled, “Green Lantern was another thing I auditioned for. I remember getting there, and it was like me, Justin Timberlake, Jared Leto, Ryan Reynolds and maybe one other person, and I see these guys going, “I’m screwed!” This can’t be happening!’

As you know, Reynolds ended up taking on that role, and I think it’s fair to say that Stan dodged a bullet with that movie because it wasn’t good.

He continued, “But if you got closer, it wouldn’t happen, and in a way, I have to tell you, looking back, I’m almost glad it didn’t happen. Because I don’t know if I could have handled that level of attention like some of those guys.

He also said he auditioned for a Russell Crowe movie, but didn’t reveal what that movie was about. Regardless, Sebastian Stan is in a strong position in his career. He is a talented actor and has no problem finding great and interesting projects to be a part of.
