Eddie Munson returns in the Dark Horse comic STRANGER THINGS and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: RISE OF HELL

Dark Horse Comics has released a new comic to give a proper send-off to Stranger things fan favorite character Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons: Hell Rises is a Netflix prequel comic book series Stranger things Season 4 with fan favorite character Eddie Munson!

Dark Horse’s official description for Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons: The Rise of Hellfire reads:

“Spell casting, sword swinging, and dice luck shaped the lives of the Stranger Things kids long before they had to face real-life monsters.

This crossover comic features Eddie Munson’s rise to de facto leader of the Hellfire Club, flashbacks to the legendary campaign that hooked him on D&D, his recruitment of Lucas, Dustin, and Mike, and glimpses of the fantasy worlds they conquered together.

The four-issue miniseries is written by Jody Houser (Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons, Stranger Things: Tales of Hawkins) and Eric Campbell (Dungeons & Dragons worlds and kingdoms, The Attack at Dawn by Frank Frazetta), illustrated by Diego Galindo (Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons, Stranger Things: Ybwen’s Tomb), colored by Diana Sousa (Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins, Critical Role: The origins of the mighty Nein), and written by Nate Piekos (Stranger things, Minor threats).

Issue #1 will arrive in winter 2025 and will feature a variant cover by Magali Villanueve, Rebecca Pueblar, Jeremy Wilson, Nimit Malavia, and Kyle Lambert, designer and illustrator of key illustrations in the Stranger Things series.

Jody Houser adds in a statement:

“As soon as I saw Season 4 of Stranger Things, I knew that the story of Eddie Munson and the Hellfire Club would be a perfect sequel to our Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons miniseries.

“Both Eric and I are very familiar with the way D&D creates friendships and storytellers, and it was wonderful to explore Hawkins through that lens.”

Dark Horse is framing the story as a “heartfelt send-off” to Eddie, who quickly became one of the most popular Stranger Things characters ever thanks to his iconic scene where he plays Metallica’s Master of Puppets solo on guitar, and to the truly deep bond he built with the characters in the series, for which he ultimately gave his life.
