While Smile 2 has yet to be released in theaters, writer and director Parker Finn is already thinking about the future of the horror franchise.
If the next sequel does well at the box office, you can bet Paramount Pictures will want to make more of it. Smile 2 has received a good number of positive reviews so far, we’ll just have to wait and see if audiences will show up to theaters to watch it.
During an interview with GamesRadar+, Finn teased the future, saying, “I think there are so many different and interesting directions that the world of Smile can take, different paths that it can go down.
“Right now I’m very excited to see how audiences will respond to Smile 2 and if we’re lucky in how audiences can connect and embrace the film, I think the sky is the limit.”
Finn previously said he has some ideas about where Smile might go next, saying: “There are some ideas that I think are very exciting. I think it’s really fun to imagine a series of Smile films where each one becomes more off the rails than to the previous one.”
According to the reviews I’ve seen for Smile 2, it seems like it takes things to a whole new level of crazy, which could be fun. Maybe the crazier these movies get, the better they will be.
In the sequel: “Embarking on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins to experience increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events.
“Overwhelmed by escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to confront her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.”
The cast announced for Smile 2 also includes Kyle Gallner (Smile), Rosemarie DeWitt (The ladder), Luca Gage (The White Lotus), AND Dylan Gelula (Dream scenario), alongside Raúl Castillo (The army of the dead) AND Miles Gutierrez-Riley (The wild lands).
Smile 2 will be released in theaters on October 18th.
