Deadpool and Wolverine it was expected to have cameos, irreverent humor, and plenty of action, and it proved effective on all fronts, but one thing its creators didn’t want to do was provide a generic post-credits scene. I love the mid- and post-credits Marvel scenes.
While they may be stereotypical, they are usually exciting. This has been reported Deadpool and WolverineThe post-credits scene of originally featured a look at By Channing Tatum Gambit is saved in The Void via the “Marvel Sparkle Circle”. But those who made Deadpool 3 wanted to go the least expected route instead.
Speaking to Screen Rant, co-publisher Shane Reid explains why the credits began with a touching tribute to the legacy of Fox’s Marvel films and ended with the introduction of Johnny Storm (Chris Evans) and his foul-mouthed tirade against Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin).
Reid explained:
“A beat we had for the credits sequence [was] the Legacy coil [which] that was a really important part of the process. Then that’s when we knew we were going to have this wonderful mic-drop-tail with Johnny Storm that would close the movie.”
This, unfortunately, left no room for Tatum’s hero, as they felt it looked a little too much like the typical Marvel post-credits setup. He continued:
“I think Gambit Sparkle Circle feels like a traditional Marvel coda, and I think what these guys were always trying to do was kind of subvert audience expectations in that sense.”
For his part, Tatum previously told Collider that “something is happening” on the TVA monitors during that post-credits scene, something that suggests Gambit will live to fight another day.
We know Tatum is fighting hard for this role and Reynolds supported him too. I’ve always wanted to see Channing Tatum as Gambit, and this movie just wasn’t enough.
I hope Kevin Feige sees the great possibilities of casting him in a completely independent film, as I know fans would come to watch it.
