The JOKER sequel almost cast Justin Theroux as Arthur Fleck in a TV movie within the movie

There was a running joke Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie a Deux about whether or not a TV movie based on the life and killing spree of Arthur Fleck is actually good.

Lady GagaHarleen “Lee” Quinzel is a huge fan of the TV movie and is practically obsessed with it. It played an important role in his idolatry of the real Arthur (Joaquin Phoenix). Every time Arthur asks her about the movie, Harley gives it a rave review.

It turns out that a TV movie trailer for the Joker sequel was almost shot, and Justin Theroux he was going to play Arthur in that trailer.

In an interview with IGN, director and co-writer Todd Phillips revealed this information and says he even spoke to Theroux about the possibility of playing Arthur in the TV movie.

Theroux appeared briefly in the original Joker film as actor Ethan Chase as he was a guest on Murray Franklin’s talk show.

Phillips said: “Well, Justin Theroux obviously. In fact, I talked to Justin about it. At one point we were about to shoot a trailer. We just ran out of time. Yes, “Ethan Chase”, the actor from the first film.”

Although it would have been interesting to see a trailer for the Joker TV movie Joker: Folie a Deuxit doesn’t seem like it would have made the movie better.

When previously asked about his possible involvement in the Joker sequel, Theroux said: “All I can say is I haven’t spoken to Todd in forever, and I haven’t asked him to do anything for Joker.

«I won’t say anything else. Unless he has a brilliant way to weave that little character in, that would really be putting a character into the movie that probably doesn’t need to be there.
