James Gunn responds to Mr. BLOCK movie rumors

There have recently been rumors of a Mr. Freeze film project in development at DC Studios. That report originated from Production Weekly and it is said that the story would be set in the same world as The Batman AND The Penguin.

This rumor comes because there have also been reports Batman: Part II being set in winter, so people think a spin-off focusing on Dr. Victor Fries is something that could happen.

So, what does the co-CEO of DC Studios say? James Gunn do you have anything to say about it? When asked about the rumor on social media, he talked about rumors in general.

He said: “I haven’t heard about it, but there are a lot of rumors going around this week. Some are true, some are partially true and some are not true at all.

“If following unknowns is fun for you, follow them, but don’t fully trust anything until you hear it from me or Peter (who isn’t online although I’ve seen him tagged in a few things.)”

Speaking about a possible Mr. Freeze project, Gunn later clarified: “It’s not a bad idea, so I wouldn’t say never, but no, there’s no truth to it at all.”

Mr. Freeze is one of my favorite Batman villains because he has such a tragic backstory that makes him such a compelling character.

My favorite version of the Mr. Freeze story is the one that came out Batman: The Animated Series. His story was told in such a beautiful way.

In the Batman: The Animated Series In the episode “Heart of Ice”, the tragic story of Doctor Victor Fries, also known as Mr. Freeze, is introduced. Once a brilliant cryogenicist, Fries turns to a life of crime after an experiment meant to save his terminally ill wife Nora goes horribly wrong.

His employer, Ferris Boyle, cuts funding for the project and sabotages the laboratory, leaving Fries physically impaired, unable to survive outside of sub-zero temperatures.

Seeking revenge against Boyle and to complete his quest to save Nora, Mr. Freeze embarks on a path of destruction across Gotham, using his freezing technology to carry out his revenge.

Batman learns of the situation and ultimately discovers the depths of Fries’ personal tragedy. After a series of confrontations, Batman thwarts Mr. Freeze’s attempts at revenge, but not without gaining sympathy for his plight.

Ultimately, Fries is sent to Arkham Asylum, where he sadly reflects on his lost humanity and his eternal longing to be reunited with Nora.

Would you like to see a movie centered on Mr. Freeze?
