David Corenswet he’s had roles in many movies and TV shows over the past decade, but he’s about to be launched into a whole new realm of stardom as he leads DC’s new cinematic universe as the Man of Steel.
It’s not easy to don the cape and boots of the superhero who embodies truth, justice and the American way, with super strength and speed at his disposal.
Corenswet will star as Clark Kent directing James Gunn’S Supermanand in preparing for the role, the actor said on episode 27 of the “Manly Things (Sort Of)” podcast, “I didn’t weigh 238 (pounds) when we started shooting. I had 238 at best. I didn’t fit in any of my pants.”
THE Hollywood the actor also discussed the difficulty of maintaining his maximum weight throughout the production process. He shared that the transformation he initially underwent “wasn’t a great feeling” because his body hadn’t yet adjusted to all the extra weight he’d gained.
Corenswet joked about realizing he had become a 2XL when he wore a Champion sweatshirt during a reading of the film, telling the podcast:
“It was at my peak. And then I slowly lost weight before I started filming. I started shooting at about 228, 230… I know I wanted this to be my excuse to see what it felt like to essentially gain as much weight as possible.
In May Paolo Mascitti, personal trainer of Superman the cast, shared a photo of the film’s titular star in an Instagram post, stating, “David Corenswet worked his ass off; I can’t wait to further share the training we went through to prepare to play this iconic character; stay tuned for more information.
The post contained two still images: a first look at Corenswet in the official Superman suit and a shot of the actor flexing his muscles in the gym.
We’ll get to see the actor in all his Superman glory when the film hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
