Here is the trailer for an inspiring sports drama titled Fresh waterwhich tells the true story of basketball star Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton.
Sweetwater was “born to change the game. Revered as the father of basketball as it is now known and loved by millions, Harlem Globetrotters phenom Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton overcame a lifetime of barriers and a barrage of discrimination to become the first African American to join the NBA.”
The story begins in 1949, when Abe Saperstein, owner and coach of the Harlem Globetrotters, “staged an exhibition game in New York City against the NBA champions, the Minneapolis Lakers. The game was attended by Ned Irish, owner of the New York Knicks, and his coach Joe Lapchick.
“The Lakers were defeated by the talented and creative Black Globetrotters, with Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton impressing the crowd with his graceful athleticism.
“Lapchick and the Irish took the lead in supporting the integration of the team and, with the support of NBA President Maurice Podoloff, worked with the other team owners to create a groundbreaking moment in history.”
Producer Darren Moorman said in a statement: “We are honored by the response the film has received from Angel Guild audiences. I love the story of Sweetwater for so many reasons. As a director it’s always nice to tell an unknown story, but one that has had an extraordinary impact on the world.”
I love inspirational sports movies and it looks like this will be a good movie.
