Maika Monroe (Long legs) has signed on to star in 20th Century Studios’ remake The hand that rocks the cradle. Michelle Garza Cervera directs the film produced by Ted Field, Michael Schaefer and Mike Larocca of Radar Pictures through their company, Department M.
The project is an adaptation of the 1992 thriller originally released by Buena Vista Pictures and directed by Curtis Hanson. Rebecca De Mornay she played a twisted widow who, distraught over losing her own child, insinuates herself into a family as a nanny, with the ultimate goal of taking the children and husband for herself. Annabella Sciorra she played the mother.
The retelling was conceived by Cervera and written by Micah Bloomberg. The project is seen as a double act and sources say Monroe was the first choice for the nanny role.
Monroe is ready to spin the subversive fairy tale 100 nights of heroes with Emma Corrin.
