James McAvoy recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to promote his newly released horror thriller Don’t speak badlyDuring the show, she revealed some interesting insights into how she got her role in M. Night Shyamalan’S Divided.
McAvoy said he only had about two weeks to prepare the film because it was cast at the last minute after actress he dropped out a couple of weeks before the film was supposed to start shooting.
When asked if it was weird taking the role from Phoenix, McAvoy replied, “No, definitely not. I’m confident enough to think I’d do it better anyway. Just kidding. I just like saying the wrong thing.”
The actor added: “Are you kidding? He’s an amazing actor. He would have given a very different performance than I did, but incredible. Sometimes going in at the last minute is the best way.
“I think I dropped out two weeks before we started shooting. It was really last minute. I had a couple of weeks [to prep]Two weeks.
“The script was well structured, so it was very clear from the start what I wanted to do. It took a little longer to find a couple of characters. Patricia came in quickly. Hedwig took a little while.”
McAvoy’s role in Divided It’s easily one of the best performances he’s ever given in his career. He’s a talented actor who is great at everything he does, but this was such a unique and wild role and he pulled it off brilliantly.
He played a criminal with dissociative identity disorder, which led him to play 23 different personalities.
