Ticiane Pinheiro, 50, Junno Andrade, 63, Rita Guedes, 54, and Gracyanne Barbosa, 43, were eliminated from Dança dos Famosos during the repechage round on Sunday, November 1.
The four contestants failed to advance to the next stage of the celebrity dance competition on the Brazilian television show Domingão com Huck. Fellow participants Bruna Griphao, 27, and Lucas Guedez, 31, won the round and claimed the two spots available to continue in the contest.
Six competitors took the stage for the repechage round, performing routines to hit songs by Brazilian singer Joelma in the Brega Calypso rhythm. Brega Calypso is an upbeat music and dance style from northern Brazil that Joelma helped bring to national prominence.
Dança dos Famosos repechage voting results
Unlike the previous stages of the competition, the qualifiers in the repechage round were decided by a vote. After all six contestants completed their performances, each member of the judging panel and the studio audience selected two participants to stay in the show.
Once the votes from the judges and the studio audience were combined, Bruna Griphao and Lucas Guedez secured the backing needed to move into the next phase. The remaining four competitors, Ticiane Pinheiro, Junno Andrade, Rita Guedes and Gracyanne Barbosa, were eliminated from the contest.
Dança dos Famosos is the long running celebrity dance tournament featured as a regular segment on Domingão com Huck, a Sunday variety programme in Brazil. A repechage round serves as a second chance stage in tournament competitions, allowing contestants who missed out on automatic qualification in earlier rounds to compete one more time for a place in the next phase.
Qualified contestants and weekly elimination schedule
Following the result of the repechage round, Bruna Griphao and Lucas Guedez join the group of contestants who had already qualified for the next stage of the competition. The participants already through to the next phase are MC Livinho, Giovana Cordeiro, Bianca Andrade, Pedro Scooby, Diego Martins, Mell Muzzillo, Breno Ferreira and Léo Foguete.
From now on, the competition enters a new stage featuring weekly eliminations. Under the format for the upcoming phase, one participant will leave the segment every Sunday.
