Here is an interesting trailer for the upcoming movie The featherweighta mockumentary that tells the story of a boxer, Willie Pep, and his attempt to return to activity.

Set in mid-1960s Hartford, Connecticut, “The Featherweight” presents a gripping chapter in the true story of Italian-American boxer Willie Pep (James Madio) the most successful fighter of all time, who, in his mid-40s, in poverty and with his personal life in ruins, decides to return to the ring, and at that point a documentary crew enters his life.

“Lookfully crafted and researched, the film is a visceral portrait of the discontents of twentieth-century American masculinity, fame, and self-perception.”

Pep’s story is told in a unique way, as a TV crew follows him as he tries to make his big comeback. Madio (Band of Brothers) trained for months to accurately capture Pep’s techniques and movements.

The film also has a fantastic supporting cast that includes Ruby Wolf, My Friend Keir Gilchrist, Stephen Lang, Ron Livingston, by Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Share Albertand boxer Bruce Carrington.

The film was directed by Roberto Colodny and will be released in select U.S. theaters beginning September 20, 2024.
