Academy Award Winner Patricia Arquette (Childhood, The act) has signed on to star in Hulu’s untitled limited series that will tell the story of the infamous Murdaugh murders, from co-creator and showrunner Author: Michael D. Fuller (Quarry, Rectify) and co-creator Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs Spears, I love you, now die).
The series tells the story of Maggie and Alex Murdaugh’s strangest family drama in fiction, a gripping tale that draws on countless hours of reporting by Mandy Matney, journalist and creator of the popular Murdaugh Murders Podcast – as well as exclusive and confidential information, gleaned from years spent following the case,” the streamer said in a statement.
Arquette will play Maggie Murdaugh, a wife and mother whose husband Alex Murdaugh was convicted of murdering her and their son Paul. The patriarch is currently serving two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. His bid for a new trial was denied in January.
The project reunites Arquette with Eat the Cat Productions, Hulu and UCP following their collaboration on the limited series The actfor which Arquette received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
Arquette’s upcoming projects include Madeline Hynde’s Last Upheavalopposite Jodie Comer and directed by Kenneth BranaghAND They will kill you, opposite Zazie Beetz.
