TWILIGHT MIDNIGHT SUN Novel to Get Animated Adaptation on Netflix

THE Dusk Novel of the Universe Midnight Sun is getting an animated series adaptation at Netflix. The project, which has received a straight-to-series order, has entered development at the global streamer and hails from Lionsgate Television, whose sister film studio has released The Twilight Saga.

Sinéad Daly (Tell me lies) is writing and executive producing the adaptation of the Dusk complementary novel, a reinterpretation of Dusk from Edward Cullen’s point of view. by Robert Pattison Edward’s performance in the 2008 film Dusk was informed by Midnight Sun while Meyer shared his then unfinished manuscript with the actor.

Meyer, creator of the best-seller Dusk the book series that spawned Lionsgate’s multi-billion dollar film franchise, executive produces the animated series alongside Meghan Hibbett for Fickle Fish Films.

Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are executive producers for Temple Hill Entertainment, Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey for Picturestart. Emily Wissink supervises for Picturestart. Temple Hill served as producer on The twilight Saga film; Feig worked on it in his role as co-chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.

Deadline reports that the new series has been in the works for a year and a half, although neither the premise nor the writer have been revealed so far. The company’s vice president Michael Burns spoke about it during a question-and-answer session at Morgan Stanley’s press conference in March.

“We will go out with the Dusk series, an animated series, I think there’s going to be a lot of interest in that,” he said, also referencing plans to further expand Lionsgate’s flagship film franchise John Wick with another TV series as part of the company’s IP strategy. That series, John Wick: Under the High Commissioner’s Tablehas recently been made available to buyers.
