Emilia Clarke (game of Thrones) is set to take on the lead role in the upcoming spy thriller Ponywhich has been ordered straight to series at Peacock.
The series is set in Moscow, 1977. “Two ‘PONIEs’ (‘persons of no interest’ in intelligence jargon) work anonymously as secretaries at the American embassy.
“That is until their husbands are mysteriously murdered in the USSR and the couple becomes CIA agents. Bea (Clarke) is an educated, Russian-speaking daughter of Soviet immigrants.
“His partner, Twila, is a small-town girl as feisty as she is brave. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.”
The series is developed by the co-creators Susanna Fogel (The flight attendant, the spy who left me) AND David Isersonwith Clarke also set to executive produce.
Fogel will also direct the series, while Iserson will serve as showrunner.
Clarke will also star in the upcoming Amazon series Criminal. She is best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. Since then, she has appeared in projects such as Secret Invasion, Me Before You, Last Christmas, The Pod Generation, Solo: A Star Wars StoryAND Terminator Genisys.
