If you saw Antonio Mackie in interviews or on stage at Comic-Con, you know he likes to have fun with his fellow Marvel actors, joking and poking fun at them whenever he can. Now, he’s making a bold statement about his next film, Captain America: Brave New Worldand this comes at the expense of the Spider-Man actor, Tom Hollandwho has clashed with Mackie over the years in a friendly feud over their characters and the MCU films.
During a recent interview on The Official Marvel Podcast (via SuperHeroHype), Mackie assured MCU fans that Brave New World will be better than any Holland film they’ve ever seen, including his Spider-Man trilogy.
“Well, he’s Cap. Finally,” Mackie shared with a laugh. “Now we see him go on missions on his own and try to figure out where he fits into the whole world. This is way better than any Tom Holland movie,” he added, before deciding to throw in one last jab by reminding fans that his film, unlike the Spider-Man trilogy, will also feature “Harrison Ford!”
That’s a lot to compete with! But I know his comments were in jest…for the most part. Mackie is right, this movie looks great, but I wouldn’t compare it to Holland’s Spider-Man movies, because they are great and beloved by fans. It’s just funny that he’s making these comments just to get Holland’s response, which will no doubt backfire in a funny way.
Captain America: Brave New World will hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
