BOY GEORGE Biopic In The Works With JC Lee Hired To Write Screenplay

Mr. JC Lee (Light, The morning show) has been hired by TriStar Pictures to write the upcoming biopic about the ’80s pop music icon Boy Georgeby the group Culture Club, and the hits “Karma Chameleon”, “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me” and many others.

The film will be produced by Academy Award-winning producer Cathy Schulman, George’s manager Paul Kemsley, Jeremy M. Rosen and Kevin King Templeton along with Primary Wave Music. Boy George will also serve as an executive producer.

Still in early development, the film will feature music from Boy George and Culture Club, to which Primary Wave Music holds the rights. Lee will adapt the screenplay from Boy George’s autobiographies, Take it like a man, Straight AND Karma and focus on the highly successful years of Culture Club.

Boy George rose to fame as the lead singer of the iconic band Culture Club, having had seven UK Top 10 singles, nine US Top 10 singles and selling over 100 million singles and over 50 million albums.

George is a global icon, who remains the most colourful pop star in British history, ever-present and sustainable in today’s world with sold-out world tours, multiple television series, a new album and a recent headline performance on Broadway. Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

The Grammy-winning singer’s cultural relevance transcends age, race, color, creed and nationality to reach a truly global audience.
