Roadside Attractions has released a trailer for an upcoming drama titled City of Dreamswhich tells the story of a boy reduced to slavery and forced to survive and escape.
The film is inspired by true events and tells the story of Jesús, “a young Mexican boy whose dreams of becoming a soccer star are shattered when he is trafficked across the border and sold to a fast fashion company in downtown Los Angeles.
“Thrust into a world of exploitation and desperation, he is forced to stick to the grueling work schedule imposed by El Jefe, a boss who promises freedom to those who complete his quotas.
“Despite Jesus’ hellish existence, he finds solace in Elena, a girl who was similarly betrayed and sold into slavery. When she disappears and another colleague, Carlito, is severely beaten, Jesus realizes his only hope for freedom is a daring escape.”
The film was written and directed by Mohit Ramchandani and the stars Jason Patric, Alfredo Castro, Ari Lopez, Samm Levine, Paulina, Gaitan, Francisco DenisAND Diego Calva.
The film will be released in theaters on August 30.
