Manny Jacinto (The good place, Nine perfect strangers, The Acolyte) had previously been announced as a cast member for the upcoming Disney sequel, Strangest Fridaybut he was only given an undisclosed role.
But like the stars, lindsay lohan AND My Friend Jamie Lee Curtisreleased for D23 this past weekend, we learned that Jacinto will play the husband of Lohan’s character, Anna, who, thanks to a mysterious curse, switched bodies with her mother, Tess, in the first film.
“Manny plays Lindsay’s husband, but that’s all we can say,” Curtis tells EW, explaining that they’re still in the middle of filming. “Manny is adorable, so funny,” Lohan chimes in on her new onscreen love interest.
Lohan’s former on-screen love interest, Chad Michael Murraywill also be returning, reprising his role as Jake from the beloved 2003 comedy. Last month, Disney shared an image of Murray in character, complete with a new motorcycle.
“Chad is in it. And boy, oh boy, Chad is in it,” Curtis teases of Murray’s return to Strangest Friday.
Although Curtis refers to Jacinto as Anna’s husband, the official synopsis for the upcoming film (directed by Late night helmsman Nisha Ganatra and written by Doll face screenwriter Jordan Weiss), alludes only to the fact that the young woman has “a daughter and a future stepdaughter” who must “deal with the challenges that arise when two families merge.”
EW previously saw a casting call for the film that included unverified character descriptions, in which Anna was described as a “long-term single mom” who “marries British restaurateur Eric Davis,” much to the dismay of her “tomboy” daughter, Harper.
In addition to Lohan, Curtis and Murray, it has been announced that other stars from the first film will also be returning to the cast. Crazy Friday universe, including Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, AND Rosalind Chao.
Strangest Friday will hit theaters in 2025.
