Michael Keaton Says BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE Has a “Stronger Story” Than the Original

While we continue to wait Tim Burton’s World’S Beetle Juice Beetle Juice to be released, his star, Michael Keatonis further hyping the film, saying it has “a stronger story” than the first film.

During an interview with Total Film, the actor continued, “There’s a greater connection with the audience when it comes to the other characters.”

He added: “There are things in here that I wasn’t ready for, that are beyond delightful. Instead of being like, ‘I can’t wait for this thing to come,’ or, ‘I just want this thing called Beetlejuice to go crazy.'”

actresswho reprises her role as Lydia Deetz, also shared some thoughts: “I’m very confident that it will meet and exceed expectations. It certainly has done the same for me, and mine are much higher. I literally think every generation can find something in it that they’re going to really enjoy.”

Then there is Justin Therouxwho plays Lydia’s new boyfriend, Rory, who says: “This movie has some big swings. It’s got phantasmagoria and it feels slightly out of control and unbalanced. It’s got that vibe.

It’s clear that this movie wasn’t made by taking audience polls, and studio notes, and executives saying, ‘Well, what’s the most satisfying third act?’ This is 100% like someone cracked open the front of Tim Burton’s head, and let it spill out onto the screen. It’s a fabulous ride for exactly that reason.”

That’s exciting to hear! I really hope that all of this is so, I hope that the film lives up to the expectations that the actors have created for it.

We’ll find out soon enough, but it looks like a lot of fun!

In the film, “After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still obsessed with Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the city in the attic and the portal to the afterlife is accidentally opened.”

“With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time before someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his own brand of mayhem.”

The cast also includes Catherine O’Hara like Delia Deetz, Monica Bellucci (Spectre, the Matrix movies), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI) like Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, and Willem Dafoe’s World like a B-movie action star who died and became a police officer in the afterlife.

Alfred Gough AND Miles Millar (Wednesday AND Small Villa) wrote the screenplay along with an earlier draft of Seth Grahame Smith AND David KatzenbergKatzenberg and Grahame-Smith are also producers. Danny Elfman returns to compose the soundtrack.

Beetle Juice Beetle Juice will be released in theaters on September 6, 2024.
