Trailer for THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP: A LOONEY TUNES MOVIE, coming out in theaters

We’re getting a new Looney Tunes movie, and it’s coming out in theaters! The movie is called The Day the Earth Exploded: A Looney Tunes Moviefirst announced in 2021 as part of Warner Bros. Animation’s slate of original animated films for HBO Max and Cartoon Network.

The film was ultimately scrapped by Max and later picked up by GFM Animation in 2022, who will handle the worldwide distribution of the first fully animated Looney Tunes feature film ever made for theaters.

Deadline is now reporting that Ketchup Entertainment has acquired the North American rights to the Looney Tunes movie and will release it in theaters nationwide later this year. We also have a trailer for the film that you can watch.

The Day the Earth Exploded: A Looney Tunes Movie starring Porky Pig and Daffy Duck as unlikely heroes and Earth’s only hope in the face of an alien invasion.

“The film tells a rich Porky & Daffy story that fans have never seen before: in this buddy comedy of epic proportions, our heroes race to save the world, delivering all the hilarious gags and vibrant imagery that made Looney Tunes so iconic, but on a scale and scope that has yet to be experienced.”

Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment said in a statement: “The Day the Earth Exploded This is a historic moment for the Looney Tunes franchise and we are proud to partner with Warner Bros. Animation to bring this film to audiences in theaters.

“We can’t wait for audiences of all ages to see one of the smartest animated films in years,” said Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment.

GFM Animation’s Fred Hedman added, “Gareth’s enthusiasm for Warner Bros. Animation’s spectacular Looney Tunes adventure convinced us that Ketchup Entertainment was the right partner to distribute the film in North America.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the team as they prepare to bring Porky Pig and Daffy Duck to the big screen.”

Pete Browngardtthe creator of Cartoon Network Uncle Grandpa and a writer-director on Looney Tunes Cartoons directed the film, which premiered at the Annecy Animation Festival in June.

Browngardt also co-wrote the film with Alex Kirwan (Looney Tunes Cartoons) and Kevin Costello (THE Tom and Jerry film).
